Team Kite Test!

In October 2004 the AERIALIS Team Flyers started to look for another kite to replace the WSOs that we found lacking something in the team/precision department. We collected eight now classic kites to a big test and here's the story!

Nirvana (3-point static bridle)

Nirvana Std (3pt static bridle)
Nirvana Std (3pt static bridle)

The Nirvana is and feels smaller than the other team kites in this test. Its trickability is surpassed by none and despite its traceability, it’s also surprisingly stable and predictable in the precision department. However, we found it lacking that little extra to be the ultimate 6 man team kite.

Test result

6,0 Speed
9,0 Tracking
7,0 Cornering
8,0 Steps down
9,0 Stall (from a horizontal trajectory)
6,0 (Snap)Stall (from a vertical up trajectory)
8,0 Halt (stalled position) from a vertical up trajectory)
7,0 Keeping the Stall position
5,0 Side slide
8,0 Circle 20% (2 x wingspan)
8,0 Circle 100% (constant speed)
9,0 Wind window
8,0 Speed Control
10,0 Axel to Fade
8,0 Overall impression
116,0 Total Score

Test pilot comments

  • Feels and IS smaller than the other team kites
  • Lacks a little in the ”stall” department
  • VERY Trickable (even with the 3pt static bridle)
  • Feels a little on the fast side for a 6.man team ???
