Tweaking and Tuning

After yesterday's test flight I wanted to do some adjustments to the Skiron. That's why I got up in the wee-hours today.

First thing I wanted to do was to increase the curve in the leading edge. I have a feeling this will improve the kite’s flying characteristics and give it a more significant oomph, which it was lacking. I also hope this will reduce the skittishness.

So what to do then? There are several ways to increase the LE curving. The one I opted for was lengthening the LE somewhat by adding extensions on both wingtips.

These extensions will make the LE a few centimetres longer and when you fasten the endcaps the LE will take on a more significant curve. Just take a closer look at the LE curve in the photo below.

I did some adjustments to the bridle too, moving the upper towpoints a few centimetres to the outside and checking the symmetry. Now the kite is ready for its second test flight!
