On the Way to the Grocery Store

On the way to the grocery store, I happen to go past one of the local beaches. Today I made a quick stop for some flying before shopping!

Pretty convenient, don’t you think?! So I spent about three quarters of an hour on the beach flying.

I’m getting the grips of my new kite, and the more I fly it the more I get in love with it! ?

I think one of the main reasons is the bridle. Inspired by some Google searches on the topic I came up with an interesting version which I so far find extremely promising.

I can feel a more constant sail pressure, especially when reversing and doing slow bicycle rotations. This characteristic makes for more stable and predictable flying. Cool!

The kite with its current bridle is also very easy to flic flac! When taking a closer look, you can see the outer bridle leg going on the outside of the kite rather than around the leading edge. This makes for much easier recoveries … as you can see in the video below.

You can really feel how the bridle is working when flying. This is very significant when setting up for the axel. You can use the handles and work the bridle to really flatten the kite before the pop. And the pop is also giving a better ‘axel input’ to the kite allowing for better looking ones.

Well, ’nuff said. Here’s the video!
