New Super Ultra Light Building Project

Inspired by my recent building project, I have started a new one. Now my goal is to build a true indoor/no-wind quad kite and the process is of course documented here at AERIALIS Kites!

Staying more at home and keeping the social distance surely have changed a few areas of my life. And inspired by the kite community out there, I’ve taken to the sewing machine and made a couple of kites myself.

First kite out was the Zaephay, which I actually started almost a year and a half ago. Then I started another project. This time I was after a kite that I can use on those REALLY windy days. When I flew the kite in … REALLY high winds, I found a few issues to address and added more knowledge on how to design kites!

This time I’m after a true no-wind kite, a real indoor kite that I can use for those absolutely windless days or … indoor!

In the gallery above, I’ve added a few photos from creating the pattern and cutting the wing halves.

As mentioned, I’m trying to make an indoor or no-wind kite. I’ve done some calculations and had a chat with Anders M. about a few details and hopefully, I’ve got the figures correct. Thankfully, the Hadziki wing in various shapes tends to fly pretty well so I’m pretty sure it will at least fly … and in really low winds too.

Next step is to hem all the edges, sew the two wing halves together and reinforce at the appropriate places. I have all the required materials available so it’s now only down to my priorities.

So if you want to follow the process, please drop by every now and then for (hopefully) frequent updates!

CU!
