Flic Flac Practice

Inspired by John Barresi and others, I was out practising my QLK flic flacs yesterday.

It was a windy day but the winds were nice, smooth and onshore. Good conditions to play around with a perfectly vented quad kite practising my flic flacs!

I won’t go into the technical details, but this yellow vented quad kite of mine has a bridle set up that allows for quite accessible flic flacs. I guess it has something to do with the lower bridle legs, but as stated above, no tech details this time. 😉

Today I wanted to practice the flic flacs pretty close to the ground and allowing enough slack in the lines when flicking, I tried to land the kite on the ground on its leading edge and the back of the kite facing the pilot, aka me!

After a few tries and errors, I got the feeling for just the correct flick of the wrists and got the kite to overrotate in its flicking and land on its LE with the back of the kite facing towards the pilot.

Unfortunately, this yellow kite of mine is far from snag-free, so too often, one of the break lines snagged the down tip of the vertical spars making me have to walk the walk of shame. 😉 But when the lines did not snag, it all came out pretty good!

In the video below, you can see for yourself. Any snags or walks of fame are cut away and only the good stuff is there!

And by the way, everything is in slow motion, so you’ll get to see what’s going on!
