Despite Everything … Spring is Coming!

Yes, believe it or not, but it seems like spring is coming here in my neck of the woods.

So after finishing the stable duty, I had a short hour to kill, and I decided to kill it on the flying field. Or… Field? I don’t know. When flying a quad kite on short lines you don’t really need a field, do you?

No, like I have touched upon in another article here at AERIALIS Kites, you don’t need a full-blown field for flying your quad. Today’s location is a perfect example of that. A few rocks, a couple of grassy patches, a small jetty, a fence, a line set and a kite. Yeah, and a dash of wind is all it takes to have super fun!

And when the weather gods decide to take away all the clouds, let the sun shine and making sure that steady breeze coming in from the sea at about 4m/sec (9mph) things are pretty damn perfect!

So despite everything, spring is surely coming!

  1. Analysis of the video:

This is clearly a political video. One day someone claimed this beautiful piece of land by the water as his, put up a fence around it and said (or worse) that no one else was allowed to be there. The kite, the instrument of liberty and symbol of freedom crossed that border today. While we have technically witnessed an act of trespassing, what was openly demonstrated was a desire of freedom from this restriction. No innocent kites (was this the kite that previously harassed mrs Statue btw?) were harmed in the process though. 🙂

😉 Actually, this fence is kind of in a ‘grey zone’ of Norwegian legislation. The common rule is that no private initiative that hinders access to the waterfront is allowed. There’s a lot of paperwork to be done that might allow you to put up a fence like this.

    …and my kite doesn’t give a s**t about the law anyway! 😉
